Garrghhhh
This is my frustration noise. I need to find an example of a computer problem report form for my office. All I can find is this, over and over and over again.
Geek joke that makes you all wet your corduroy pants
Yes, it is very funny. Until after the 7th or 8th attempt to find a real form example. Then it becomes hella condescending. Yes, people have a tendency to be stupid, especially plebs like me. It does not mean we deserve to be shat on with your programming logic.
Users are not fucktards. We deserve a little bit of respect. Get on it.

Hey, _you_ don’t have to deal with these alleged “not-fucktards” in a quasi-professional manner when their shit is broken. It’s not even my job, but still people expect you to do it. Apparently to some people “IT” is “IT” no matter what. Would you ask a plumber to plaster your walls because “house technology” is “house technology”? Not-fucktards my arse.

Hey Mr generalisation, we are not all fucktards, simple as that. I may not be a techno genius, but I still have a functioning, semi-intelligent brain. I sometimes need help with computer stuff, and hopefully the person that helps me won’t laugh and poke fun and give me one of these forms. Maybe they will. If they do, I may be forced to become violent.
I kind of went off track with all of this anyway. The point I was attempting to make (very poorly) is that some programmers and other computer people have total disdain for the user and treat them accordingly when they create their product. Not cool.

what adele is saying is true, but thats probably because they’re in the wrong job. a programmer shouldnt be doing tech support, and a tech support person shouldnt be doing programming. What im getting at is that a tech support person requires people skills, programmers also require people skills…but only enough to talk to other programmers (obviously the more the better but…), not enough to be able to ask a question without offending someones intelligence.
fair?
actually no…there should be a test when you sign up for a computer related position.

based on that you can probably tell if someone is a programmer or a tech support person, this is a great method of restructuring companies.
